The Covid-19 Crisis has meant a huge logistical challenge due to the population’s confinement and the need to basic necessities supply. The limitations to mobility have greatly boosted Internet commerce. Suffice it to say that, according to the data provided by the Stuart technology platform, since the beginning of the pandemic, SME shipments increased by 535 percent compared to the week before the confinement began. This has had great impact on logistics activity and the sector has successfully overcome the challenge.
But the Covid-19 crisis has also revealed the need to quickly adapt to new scenarios and to an increasingly complex environment that, for various reasons, may change very quickly, as we have verified in recent months.
Thus, the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL), eDelivery Barcelona and Barcelona Meeting Point have been postponed to 2021 and a new event has emerged with a new format: Barcelona New Economy Week, to be held next October from 6 to 9. It is a physical and digital B2B meeting that will bring together unique logistics, real estate, digital industry, eCommerce and economic zones events, all under one common denominator: the new economy.
BNEW will be set up as a highly technological hybrid event with a physical presence but supported on a digital platform, a way to ensure the maximum possible attendance. It foresees the participation of 350 speakers, between 150 and 200 companies and between 7,000 and 10,000 attendees via streaming.
The event will be based on three axes: knowledge, talent and innovation. Within the field of logistics, they will address aspects of Intralogistics and warehousing, infrastructure, transport in its different modes, new technologies and information systems in the supply chain.
In addition, there will be multiple venues for the event in unique buildings in Barcelona. And, taking into account the flexibility of its design, it can be adapted to the circumstances and health recommendations of this time.
SIL, Barcelona Meeting Point and eDelivery Barcelona will return in their usual format in 2021. SIL and eDelivery Barcelona will do so from June 1 to 3, 2021.
