The logistics sector is going through a full technological and industrial transformation and consequently the demand for professionals in this sector is adapting to this new scenario. A study by the consulting firm Spring, company of the Adecco group, shows that the profile that most logistics companies will request in 2020 will be that of a supply chain specialist. The same report details that the most searched competencies for the logistics and supply chain sector profiles are customer orientation, negotiation skills, results orientation, strategic planning and initiative, and the development of business opportunities.
The supply chain specialist is responsible for the general management of the inventory with regard to replenishment of supplies, the maximization of quality, the minimization of costs and the support of the objectives of the department within the objectives of the supply chain of the system. A supply chain specialist profile with a professional experience of two to three years has a salary range between 30,000 and 50,000 euros per year. According to the study, the most interesting training for a job with these characteristics would be an engineering one, preferably in Industrial Organization.
The study also highlights the role of the supply chain director, who is in charge of the areas of planning, supplying and purchasing, warehouse and transportation and customer service within the company. The salary of a management supply chain profile with a 5 to 10 years professional experience ranges between 65,000 and 100,000 euros gross per year.
On the other hand, the automation engineer profile has become one of the most demanded ones in the logistics sector. Specifically, profiles with technical or superior training in industrial and automatic electronic engineering, with knowledge in PLC programming and configuration, and high level of English are very much sought. The salary range of this type of profiles is around 35,000 and 45,000 euros gross per year, although this range may vary depending on the size of the company and sector.
In recent years, the sales & marketing area profiles have specialized in new techniques that also focus on the online world, as well as in digital commercial strategy or electronic commerce. E-commerce has stopped being a complement to the commercial strategy of the companies. In this sense, commercial profiles such as the business development manager or key account manager are also especially demanded in the logistics sector.
