Small and medium-sized businesses are themselves the primary drivers of most innovations in the industry, ironically often lacking knowledge and access to innovative technologies and techniques that could make them more resilient to supply chain disruptions. This paradox is being addressed by a new project, RISE-SME, of which ZLC is the coordinator. Funded by the Horizon Europe budget, the project aims to develop a model that can help smaller businesses detect and anticipate supply chain disruptions and identify advanced digital technologies that enable more flexible, agile, adaptable and resilient supply chains, while also becoming more sustainable and more competitive (neither sustainability nor competitiveness are easily achievable if a the company is constantly putting out fires in the supply chain.)
