Urban areas on the coast and inland of the northern Mediterranean are collaborating on a new project aimed at making the region's urban logistics smarter and greener. Funded by the Interreg Euro-Med Program, the MED COLOURS project has the specific objective of promoting climate change adaptation, disaster risk prevention and resilience through ecosystem-based approaches. Many solutions have been proposed, such as low emission zones, time windows, weight restrictions, but even in cities that have Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans, these are rarely put into practice. For this reason, MED COLOURS will apply a low-emission perspective to the urban distribution of goods, promoting a new generation of urban logistics planning that supports the transition towards decarbonized and smarter cities, and enabling resilient, sustainable, integrated, and collaborative solutions driven by innovation.
